Join an unforgettable Photography Workshop in Morocco and discover one of the most diverse and captivating countries in North Africa. From ancient kasbahs and historic villages to dramatic canyons, lush palm oases and the endless dunes of the Sahara, southern Morocco offers an incredible variety of landscapes and photographic opportunities. If golden desert light, star-filled skies, rich cultural heritage and breathtaking scenery are what inspire you, then Morocco is a destination that will certainly leave a lasting impression.
This 12-day Morocco Photography Tour is designed to immerse you in the very best of the country's southern regions while helping you elevate your photography skills. As with all my workshops, my goal is to provide the best possible experience by taking you to exceptional locations at the best times of day, while sharing my knowledge of composition, light, storytelling and night photography. Together, we'll create unforgettable memories and come home with a portfolio that truly reflects the magic of Morocco.
Itinerary
During this Morocco Photography Workshop & Tour we will be discovering the southern part of the country by driving acrossvalleys, deserts and canyons to photograph thse wonderful landscapes. The level of difficulty will be easy, with some easy walks to photography locations.


Day 1 - March 1st
The group will meet at Marrakesh Menara Airport on the first day of this Morocco Desert Photography Tour. All participants should arrive on that day as the journey towards the south will start on the next day. We will take the opportunity to stroll through Marrakesh Souk in the afternoon, already with our camera to enjoy some street photography. The day will be concluded with a diner and a sunset over the Jemaa El Fnaa square, hoping for some incredible lights, which usually isn't a an issue in Morocco.

Day 2 - March 2nd
Early wake up for the whole team today in order to enjoy our first sunrise of this 2027 Morocco Photopgraphy Tour. Certainly one that will be remembered as we will head for a Hot Air Balloon sunrise flight. Rest assured, Morocco is well prepared for it as they run up to 60 balloons a day, therefore, it is a safe experience. After the experience we will head back to our accommodation in order to freshen up and check out.
We will head then head towards our next destination Aït Benhaddou by passing through the Atlas mountains and the Ounila Valley, making a stop by the beautiful and incredible Kasbah of Telouet. Many stops will be made along the road to enjoy mountains and canyons.
Depending on our arrival time, our sunset will take place at either Aït Benhaddou or in the Ounila Valley which are both equally beautiful.

Day 3 - March 3rd
We wake up early and head towards our sunrise location and have a beautiful overview over the Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, offering us an incredible 180 degrees panorama view over the desert backed by the likely snow capped Atlas mountains. After sunrise, we will visit the Kasbbah and stroll in its tiny streets going to its top as the place slowly wakes up.
After sunrise, we will head for breakfast, relax a little, and go towards our next destination, the Dadés Canyon. This is an incredible canyon counting numerous Kasbah all with a surrealist surrounding and wonderful rock formations. After checking in at our Riad for the night, we will start exploring the canyon and discover some wonders, and slowly drive towards our sunset location.

Day 4 - March 4th
We wake up as usual prior to sunset and have a short drive towards our sunrise location in the valley to appreciate the sun slowly highlighting the surrounding mountains. After breakfast, we will explore a canyon by foot before the light becomes to harsh, and take some beautiful and abstract photographs from those yellow/orange colored rocks.
We will continue this Morocco Photography Workshop Roadtrip later during the day after lunch and head towards a remote, quiet and not so touristic area. Get ready for some camping as the area is slightly remote and be on location will be our best opportunity to photograph these unique rock formations. At night we will also take the opportunity to photograph the night sky and the milkyway.
Our logistic team will help us with setting up our camp.

Day 5 & 6 - March 5th-6th
Wake up early for those who want to do some Astrophotography otherwise, sunrise over the beautiful rock formation surrounding us. After the breakfast, we head towards M'Hamid to enjoy one of the highlights of this 2027 Morocco Photography Workshop tour, the Desert of Erg Chegaga. We will be spending the two next nights in the desert accompanied by our logistic team will take care of the whole organization in the desert. We will first go to a set camp in the desert where we will be able to discover the beautiful area, see dromaderies at dawn and dusk as well as spend time with Berbers singing and playing namods songs around a campfire. All of that will offer great photography opportunities. The camp is equipped with electricity to charge batteries and common sanitaries.
On the second day, we will travel through the desert to finally spend an authentic night in a camp set just for us in the middle of the desert by a team of Berbers supporting us, where we will be able to capture exclusive photographs of the dunes in the heart of the Sahara desert.
Both night will offer opportunities for astrophotography.

Day 7 - March 7th
Our last day in that desert heaven will be concluded by a last sunrise over the dunes. After a breakfast gracefully prepared by our supporting team, we will head back toward M'Hamid in order to get back on the road.
The journey towards one of the highlights of this Morocco Photography Tour is a fairly long one, so we will break it up with an overnight stop along the way. This will give us a chance to recover from the previous days while discovering an unexpected landscape of rolling hills, dramatic canyons, traditional villages, lush palm groves and beautiful evening light—an ideal setting for some memorable photographs. The location will be visited at sunset and sunrise, therefore, those who would like to have a longer and restful night will be able to.

Day 8 - March 8th
Pre-sunrise alarm to rediscover the evening spot with different shades of lights. After breakfast and we continue our 2027 Morocco Photography Workshop Journey towards Tafraoute, a town located in the middle of a rocky granite landscape within a surrealist environement. Depending on our arrival time, we will go to explore the area or head directly for our sunset location. where sunlight, granite stone formation and a local village are blending altigether to create a true inspiring atmosphere.

Day 9 - March 9th
We head for sunset close to our accommodation to appreciate the cool morning breeze and the soft light slowly hitting the valley. After sunrise we will head for breakfast and have a photo review or a post processing session. In the afternoon we will hit the road to head towards the Canyons Road where oasis, canyons, ruins, and local villages make the valley unique. We will drive through it and make as many stops as needed to photograph the beautiful surrouding we will be in.
On our way back to Tafraoute, we will head for sunset at one of the numerous spots overlooking the valley.

Day 10 - March 10th
Last sunrise around Tafraoute to enjoy one more time the soft lights offered by the area. Our group will leave shortly after breakfast, as this Morocco Photography Workshop will continue towards the beautiful and historical coastal city of Essaouira. We will spend most of the day on the road, making one stop at Imzouane a still small fishing village showcasing traditional fishing boats. That will be the opportunity to enjoy fresh fish for lunch at one of the local restaurants. Interesting pictures can be captured playing with those nicely shaped and colorful boats.
At our arrival in Essaouira, we will check-in in our accommodation and then head to our sunset location over the Atlantic Ocean and some of the traditional architecture offered by this beautiful city.

Day 11 - March 11th
Completely different atmosphere for today's for this 2027 Morocco Photography Workshop. No Sunset is planned today. We head in the heart of Essaouira after breakfast to enjoy the souk and its vibrant atmosphere. We will walk through the city and look for interesting street photography subjects around the city with a local photographer. The afternoon will be a lot more relax. Each participants can take time to chill and/or walk around the Medina, maybe finding some souvenirs, or even possibly do some photography. In the evening, we will head to a second spot around the city to enjoy our last sunset location prior to heading for our goodbye dinner.

Day 12 - March
This will mark the last day of this 2027 Morroco Photography Tour. Sunrise is possible around the city for those who would be keen to wake up early. Our group leaves shortly after breakfast for our 3 hours long drive towards Marrakech to arrive there at around 12pm.
I recommend taking a flight later in the afternoon to avoid stress related to slower traffic. In any case, each participants will be dropped either at the Marrakesh Menara Airport or in the city, as preferred.
That will be the moment we will leave each other after a warm goodbye and great memories.

Hi there, I am Rémi Bergougnoux, a French landscape photographer with extensive knowledge over various topics in landscape photography.

I let behind my 9 to 5 corporate job in the course of 2021 before heading for a year in Latin America, exploring, and photographing this beautiful continent. While being back in Europe in the course of 2022, I decided to bring my photography to the next level, and take the chance to share my knowledge with other passionate photographer. Offering workshops came naturally to me given my knowledge of travelling, photography and desire to share my passion.

Besides workshops, I am also writing articles for magazines, writing photography guides, and creating YouTube video tutorials about landscape photography across Europe.

I explored the Lofoten Islands numerous times since 2020 including a month long during a winter camper trip in 2023 that also included a trip to Senja Island located further north.

To this day, I know exactly what to expect on the Island, whether we are talking about light or weather, and therefore will be able to guide you through the Island in order to catch the best possible photographs.
